COACHING FAQ's

What is coaching?

Helping people get what they want without the coach doing it for them or telling them what to do.

The fastest growing motivational approach for achieving personal and professional success across the world. A no-nonsense, down-to-earth, practical set of techniques and strategies to achieve success.

"The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has." International Coach Federation

Is coaching like having therapy or counselling?

Coaching looks at the present and the future - where you are now and where you want to be. You will not be asked to explore or analyse the past.

Are there different types of coaching?

Yes. There are many definitions of coaching as well as different models of coaching: eg life coaching, business coaching, executive coaching and coach-mentoring.

Is coaching the appropriate discipline for the changes I want to make?

Coaching is not always the solution. You may benefit more from other disciplines, such as skills training, mentoring, counselling, therapy, career advice or business consultancy.

The average national rate is between £70 and £200 an hour (according to a survey by the Association for Coaching www.associationforcoaching.co.uk). If you are paying for coaching yourself, my fees are £100 per hour for telephone coaching. I offer a flexible payments scheme.

What qualifications are necessary for someone to call themselves a coach?

The market is not regulated; anyone can call themselves a coach. Check carefully before investing your time and money. A trained coach will be able to describe their model of coaching, their qualification. They are likely to be a registered member of a professional coaching body.
